I don't have very specific goals, but my number of books has gone down every year since I've started keeping track, which disappoints me. And I think it's a similar kind of thing with me in that I'm reading fewer books that are fast reads, but it still makes me kind of sad.
Agreed. If I read a larger tome, it takes me forever, and while I suppose it shouldn't matter, it makes me sad not to get through as many books, too. One thing that helped this year was that I've been reading a lot of YA books, which don't take as long to read. For a bookworm, it doesn't seem like it should be so hard to read 50 books in a year, but it is!
Those are some mighty impressive goals you gave yourself. Good for you for accomplishing them!
I should read more than I do, but I have so much stuff going on and the weekends are spent running errands and other stuff that I just don't do it as much as I would like to. Being broke and unable to go to the bookstore to get any new books has hindered my reading a bit too...
I'm lucky that I have access to a couple of libraries here, and document delivery (which can get almost any book that is over a year old) is amazing. That's definitely helped me read a lot. That's the pile of books I'm plowing through this week -- most of them are due Wednesday!
I need to spend more time reading, too. It's gotten pathetic, and I used to be such a huge bookworm. I only got through a handful of books from last year's to-read list, so I'm really going to try to do better this time around.
Good luck! I remember wondering a few years ago where my inner bookworm had gone, but I've since gotten her back, and I'm happy! :) One trick that helped me: Carry a book with you everywhere. You'll be surprised at how many opportunities you get to read a few pages as you wait in lines, etc!
current job is just okay. It's mostly at-home (calls and email) work for a small DVD production company. It's only 15 hours a week, though, and that's when my boss doesn't put me on hiatus.
I had jobs as tech/sales support at a pdf company and front desk administrative assistant at a synagogue (sent there by an office staffing agency), but while they were good, I had to give them up due to transportation costs and moving farther north in California.
I do like Davis. It's home to the University of California, Davis, where my brother currently attends. It's a nice college town. We're surrounded by lots of farmland, which I like (yay fruit stands!), but it's got enough of suburbia that we can get cheap necessities. We're about 20 minutes from Sacramento, the state capital, and it's just a little further to the west for Wine Country.

I was too busy this year - first year out of school and working part-time jobs, moving to another town, and much more...

Wow, that's a lot of change! How are the jobs going? Do you like your new town? I wish you the best!
