Hi, I saw your LJ post while randomly viewing friends' pages. The spirit of Earth Hour is voluntary. You may opt to switch off all your lights or just switch off one or two non-essential lights---it's up to you. The same goes with your appliances. If you can live in total blackout for an hour, then go ahead, but at the very least, we'd like for people to participate by switching off non-essential lights.
