aquatint is a really fast and great way to get tones on those etchings of yours. i always think etchings look really great with just linework, but once they have aquatints on them BAM! that shit becomes outta this world. no seriously, do it, i'm telling you.

YOU SWAYED ME
I was just thinking the other day of maybe doing a little monoprint on the other plate with ink to get tones but that's messy and stupid
I think my teacher wants me to do litho a bit but I feel like it's more expensive and easier to ruin a plate with photo litho
the intaglio inking process may seem tough but I prefer it all the gum arabic and mag and sponging

any tips for stone litho?? I am doing it for the first time soon and could use some beginner's "don't do this" or "remember this"

oh good lord. all i've been doing for the past month is stone litho. i dont even know where to start. i dont really have any dos or don'ts because that's what the entire art of stone litho is made up of anyway and none of them would be my own advice.

i guess basically you want to make sure you're really dedicated to your image because that shits gonna take a lot of time and dedication.

be patient because this is not something that you're gonna be able to learn or even understand overnight.

oh and ALWAYS remember to wipe off the bottom and edges of your stone before printing it or leaving it for long periods of time.

how are you going to explore stone litho? will someone be guiding you through everything?

the place where I work is a community print shop. even though it's a class with one teacher, I have about four mentors at any given time to help me. they all specialize in a process, but they are all very proficient at each.

so yeah, I'll be okay, but they have a benefit coming up soon and are going to be enormously busy so I always think it's good to be prepared for the worst (and hope for the best)
