Okay, I admit, I sort of cheated to get to 70 and read two super short books rather than forcing myself through 300 remaining pages of Jane Eyre in two days. However, in my defense, one was a book I was going to read anyway and the other I'd already started.

Wow! I'm impressed with how much you've read.
I've looked at Dynamic Characters several times on amazon and I've considered buying it, but I always get sidetracked by - well, the usual: nonfiction historical. It's that good, though? I might have to grab it the next time I make a bulk buy from amazon or wherever.
I love your reading list for 2008. Emma is my favorite Jane Austen, and I love several other books on your list! Are you going to try to read The Time Traveler's Wifebefore the movie is released? (er, presuming it's released next year - I don't know if there's a definite date yet.)
I'm going to reread the HP books next year, too. I reread them all in anticipation of DH, but, like you, I want to read the whole series as a whole. It'll be fun to see what I've missed and what takes on an entirely new meaning now that I've read the 7th book!

I'm really glad to hear that. I've been seeing the book everywhere but had no idea what it was about. I picked it up and it looked interesting, so I'm glad to hear it's a good read.
*hugs*

I actually stole 1776 from your list. I need to start reading more nonfiction and I love that historical period, so I'm sort of excited to read it.

For my Lit class, we read parts of Paradise Lost. I want to read it in its entirety this year. It's crazy hard to get into at first, if you're not used to that style of writing, but once you've hit the swing of things, it's fantastic.
Thanks so much for the rec for writing. I definitely need books like this. Maybe I'll just end up reading more than six non-fiction books this year (and for me, that'd just be a crazy thing).
Please tell me you're reading Thoreau for a class.
Please?
*hates him and the whole movement with such a passion*
I need to reread HP, too, but I'm not sure I'll be able to fit that into this year. Maybe 2009, since the last movie will be coming out then, and I'll feel all nostalgic.

Awesome. I'll definitely need one on plot. Eventually.
*laugh* I don't hate you. I'm fine with romanticism; it's an artistic movement. I just found the literature of the transcendentalist movement to be dull and such. And it might have been the way my high school English teacher taught it, but the social movement's ideas seemed ridiculous to me. The bits of "Walden" we read sort of bored me to tears, so I've been irritable toward it ever since.
Yeah. Today, I made a schedule for which books I want to read at what times this year, and I had to make sure to put the heavier stuff in the summer (even though that means waiting until the summer to read Outlander), and alternated with the few YA books I have on the list.

Haha. To be honest, it definitely isn't the most interesting reading (although the poetry of the British Romantics is beautiful). I've never read Walden and I'm sure I probably wouldn't be too keen on Thoreau if I had. All I've read by Thoreau was Cape Cod which, considering the subject matter, was bound to be interesting to me. I think I've just always felt a connection to transcendentalism because I feel that way too--beauty in nature, that sort of thing.
I'm so excited you're going to read Outlander. I just hope you like them. I'm always worried when I recommend books. lol I've just started my reread and I'm sort of falling in love with the characters all over again.
