BIG church/pastor issues

I just got off the phone with a church around my house. I had e-mailed them yesterday just to see how we would go about getting married in their church. Instead of just saying “I’m sorry but we only married members” he said I was wasting my time even e-mailing him and he wanted to know where I got his e-mail address from, which I found on yellow ( Read more... )

I know the church but never been to a wedding there...try St. Veronica's, my former step-sister got married there and wasn't a member of the church. The pastor that married them was pretty funny & nice.

we cant get married in a catholic church. Neither one of us are caltholic and never done communion or anything like that. There is a church by the bell river we are prob going to use.

Um, my dad's a pastor. You do NOT have to be a member of most churches in order to be married in the building. Typically, if you do have to be a member, the church will allow non-members to be married on the church grounds, rather than in the sanctuary. So, I have to say your story is very odd to me. What I would try is looking up more regular protestant churches such as Baptist or Methodist or even Adventist. Adventists always have tons of churches in every city and they'll marry anyone for a small church rental fee. Although, churches of any denomination usually require marital counceling with the pastor who marries you.

i thought it was a little strange that he was so rude. I just figured we would have to do counceling which is fine with me. I will check out the Adventist church thats around my house. Thanks for the tip :)

That's disappointing to hear :( Stuff like that gives churches a bad rap.

On a random sidenote, your icon reminds me of Memoirs of Geisha--probably because I just read it this weekend :)
