Why are Jehovah's witnesses so pushy? Do they actually think that, by going door-to-interminable-door and regaling an unfortunate victim with their story of how they can only be saved if they believe this way, and showering them with the Watchtower, they're going to automatically convert a person? Even the Catholics* aren't that bad.

who knows. I was talking to a Jehovah's Witness and she said that it had to do with the fact that they've "found the most wonderful thing in the world and we go door to door to try and help other people find it". And apparently a Jehovah's Witness only does the door to door thing for the first three years after their conversion. To proove that you're faithful or something. *shrug*

It certianly is annoying, though.

I got off lightly - one of the girls I was at secretarial college was a JH, but she hardly ever mentioned it. For which I was grateful :-/

Up until a couple of years ago, one of my very best friends was a Mormon. By his own admission he was *extremely* liberal by Mormon standards, but even so it was impossible to discuss evolution rationally with him :-)

I'm all for diversity - the *only* thing I mind is having someone else's religion pushed at me. I prefer to make up my own mind. Being told to do something only makes me want to do exactly the opposite ;-)

I'm all for diversity as well. I accept anyone's beliefs as long as they're not harming anyone or anything. I just don't appreciate those who foist their beliefs upon me as the One True Belief System(TM).

I've never known Catholics to do anything like that; I'm pretty sure they're one of the least evangelical branches of christianity. I'm sure they do some "come to our church!" type stuff, but I've even seen UU's do that kind of thing before.

I don't think the door to door JH people are bad people. They generally do what they do out of love and concern, and even though it's annoying as hell, I guess I can understand it. I don't think I'd have the balls in this day and age to try witnessing door to door.

Well, the Catholics can be very pushy, is what I meant.

And I don't think the JHs are bad, either; they're just rather aggressive and irritating.
