Strike #2

[Maia has been spending most of her time wandering about the ship - mostly looking for a way out, although there really isn't one to be found. So, her natural reaction is to look for something else, since she cannot simply go back to help her brother in their own world. Not that Maia even knows that this place isn't a part of her home world, and ( Read more... )

[Unlike Maia, Phoenix is actually interested in the news about the masquerade. He's already in the bazaar, browsing through the clothing in hopes of finding something that resembles an Aeropan style. The question is, how deeply does Maia enter the area? Will she go very far, or will she give up when it becomes obvious there's only clothes and various knickknacks here?]

[Maia moves deep enough, quickly realizing that this place has absolutely nothing of value (to her, at the very least). While, yes, there are a few knickknacks here and there that vaguely resemble precursor artifacts, or perhaps something that looks like it would normally contain eco...well, after a brief inspection, Maia's feelings for those few items can generally be summarized with a single word.]

Worthless trash.

[Alright, two words.]

[Two words are all it takes to catch Phoenix's attention, especially so soon after their last interaction. His shoulders stiffen and he turns around, eyes sweeping the bazaar for the source of that voice. That was Maia Acheron.

And there she is, standing just over there. Despite knowing who and what she is, Phoenix can't quite refrain from speaking up.]

Something is only worthless when you lack the knowledge of how to put it to use.

[Like Phoenix, Maia hadn't initially noticed that he was there, although that mocking acknowledgment certainly doesn't go by her. Speaking of worthless trash...]

Oh, it's you.

Have you come back for further flirtations?

[See, Phoenix? Maia can be funny, too.]

[There is a very tall man checking out the bazaar as well, and he also doesn't seem to be very satisfied with what he sees. He's kind of just... glaring at everything. Makes one wonder what he's doing here in the first place.

Does Maia notice the round-eared man?]

[Maia notices, and just...stares. She's never seen anyone with ears like that before and, honestly, it's more than a bit odd. Right now she's trying to decide whether he's had his ears hacked off, or if he's simply some kind of deformed, hairless Lurker.]

[It doesn't take too long for Xanxus to notice her, as well. He can't help but stare, too, because one, she's staring at him, and two, he's.... never really seen anyone like her, either. Though it wasn't really the ears that caught his attention; it was the rest of her.

He doesn't really know what to say, and it's highly unlikely that they even speak the same language. So. Awkward staring contest GO.]

[And now he's staring right back at her. Not that it matters much, considering she's the normal one here. (In her opinion, anyhow.) It takes about another moment of staring before Maia starts to get sick of it.]

Is something the matter?

[Never mind the fact that she had been the one who stared in the first place - he was the oddity, not her.]

[Well, that thing in the medical bay is probably noticing the lack of supplies so Daxter is willing to try his hand at scrounging up what he can on Deck 12. It's a chore shifting through all the luggage though, and he can be heard complaining probably as far as the stairwell.]

Yeesh! You'd think more people'd be prepared for this kind of thing! I guess most people don't plan on crashing cars into each other.

Whatever. Jak owes me big time for this, real big time.

Shall we say this happens after encounters with Phoenix and Xanxus? :U solittleeffort August 25 2010, 22:10:23 UTC
[Maia's ears perk up as she hears that complaint. That voice is very familiar, and why wouldn't it be? It was nearly impossible to forget the voice of that little, orange rat. Hm. It seems there will be a slight delay in her plans to scavenge the bazaar...not that it matters, really. Wherever the rat was, the mute was bound to be there with him.

It really doesn't take much effort to follow the sound of Daxter's voice - far too loud, far too easy to locate.]

[Daxter is wedged between two suitcases trying to drag a purse to the surface, so he might not be immediately visible. He is, of course, not paying the least bit of attention to his surroundings, so when he finally unearths the purse with a loud expletive he tumbles down the luggage pile and onto the floor.]

Dammit-

Ugggh son of a bitch. Ow.

[It isn't long before Maia manages to find Daxter rummaging through the luggage; blissfully unaware of Maia's presence, and oddly without Jak. Still, one of the two is better than none at all...and as keen as the animal's sense of hearing is, it isn't as if it's easy to hear someone floating above him.

...Unless they wanted to be heard, anyway.]

How delightful. It seems that the smoking drunkard was telling the truth about you being here, after all.
