Strike #7 [Audio]

Have any of you ever bothered to observe the effects of dark eco and how it spreads? If not, I would highly suggest that you do - it’s all quite fascinating, you see.

[Maia clears her throat, silently going over everything she remembers. She may not have been able to bring along the physical notes and papers that she and Gol had written on Dark Eco...but so long as everything’s stored in memory, then one doesn’t exactly have to worry about losing the information, does one?]

First of all, when introduced into a new environment, it adapts rather quickly and - unless one finds a way to remove it in time - it is highly likely that it will permanently lodge itself into that area’s ecosystem. However, this also depends on the amount of dark eco found and how concentrated it is.

For example: when dark eco is heated, it will evaporate and spread through the air. Oftentimes, the eco vapour will mix in with the clouds and spread even further once it rains. This is normally the cause of dark eco infection in plants, although the dosage of eco is small and weak enough that it can be cleansed with green eco. This also makes it very easy for dark eco to make its way into lakes and streams, contaminating drinking water. Due to this, it is very possible that most if not all people have consumed dark eco at some point - however, the amount and concentration of the dark eco is so miniscule that it can remain in one’s system without having any real affects on it.

However, if one chooses to increase the amount of dark eco, then the results become far more interesting to watch.

When plants are exposed to much higher amounts of dark eco, the changes instilled usually cannot be changed with a dosage of green eco. [She absently thinks back to the plant that had taken root in the temple in the Forbidden Jungle.] In such cases, the plant will normally grow massive and become carnivorous. The only real way to take care of it would be to fight it as one would a wild animal. And speaking of wild animals, certain creatures have managed to adapt remarkably well to living in areas with larger reserves of dark eco. A prime example would be the spiders in the Spider Caves. Instead of simply perishing in an environment so full of dark eco, they adapted to the point that they are not only able to survive, but they can even shoot dark eco at will.

And, of course, there is the issue of exactly how dark eco can affect people. Usually, someone will just die when they come into immediate contact with dark eco. Although in some cases, people and dark eco are...[Maia pauses, searching for the correct word to use.] Compatible. The dark eco will become a part of them, often causing cellular mutation along with greatly enhancing physical ability.

There is also another thought that has been running through my mind; in an area where there is little to no eco to be found - such as, oh, a ship - but there are instead people who have dark eco flowing through their veins? I believe that if there were someone on board who possessed the ability to manipulate dark eco, then it would be a rather easy process to just extract the eco from their blood. Think about this for a moment. It would be a constantly replenishing, never-ending supply of dark eco. The only negative would be that one could only extract so much at once.

Of course, such a wild speculation would require further testing, now, wouldn’t it?

[OOC: Since there isn't a huge amount on info on dark eco beyond the standard "IT WILL MAKE YOU CRAZY AND WILL FUCK YOUR SHIT UP ASSUMING IT DOESN'T KILL YOU FIRST" the stuff about how it spreads is basically my own fanon so uh. Try and bear with me. 9_6]
