They had all gathered at last from their corners of the world, introductions made, food served, pleasantries observed. The guards had gone to keep watch, leaving them safe as they could be in this world. The group had settled around the fire now in circles. The first and second delegates sat in the inner circle, with Niji presiding in the middle and Apollo bustling around with tea and happy thoughts. Somehow Ani had gotten himself set up as the voice for the people currently without homes and that suited Apollo just fine.
Around the circle of delegates gathered everyone else at the Fountain. The knowledge shared here and decisions made would affect them as well. They had the right to educate themselves and then make a choice on how to live. They had been asked to keep it quiet and only have one speak at a time when their turn came, or to direct their concerns through some of the delegates. This was going to be messy enough to begin with. Niji gave her eloquent, manipulative, diplomatic welcoming speech and then Apollo started with the first topic on the agenda: food and trade.
"We all need it to live, but I'm sure by now most of you have realized how limited it is. Hunting is dangerous for some people, other places don't even grow the limited plants as well, and certain areas have little to offer for food scavenging. Soon, people are going to start suffering from nutritional imbalances, if you know what those are, at least the humans will. What can each of your settlements offer in the way of unique food resources and what would they be able to trade for them?"
((Conference thread go. The moderators will be introducing agenda topics and then each settlement will have a turn to respond. Only one person responds each round for that settlement, though there are two options for who can respond. Moderators can interject anywhere in the order if needed. This should hopefully help keep us from getting stuck on one character for too long. Please work to make this thread go smoothly.))
