Battlestar Galactica: Laura Roslin
When I first started watching Battlestar Galactica, I'd already been drilled to like Adama/Roslin by my flist. They didn't really know how much they'd influenced me, but I'd seen so many pretty layouts featuring A/R that me falling for them was, in the end, inevitable. I'm shallow like that.
I've always fallen for female lead characters, in all my shows, and the fact that Laura is a redhead sealed the deal, so to speak. I fell head over heels in love with her. Not just her looks (the pretty hair, the legs, god!), but also her whole personality. Taking all this into account, it's no surprise I ended up doing this. I don't want to bore you with my rambling here, there's going to be enough of that lateron. Just enjoy, and, if you feel like it, please leave me a comment. As long as you don't take any of the pictures, I'm good. ;) Oh and from this point onward: Spoilers ahead (obviously!). Nothing major, I think. Well okay, the quotes are quite spoiler-y (is that a word?). But you probably won't get much if you haven't seen the whole scenes. Anyway, you've been warned.
25 REASONS WHY EVERYBODY SHOULD LOVE LAURA ROSLIN
Exhibit A: the looks
♥ reason one; the legs {...because, duh! just look at them!}
♥ reason two; the hair {...because we miss it, and you just have to love a redhead.}
♥ reason three; the glasses {...because we all know how adorable she looks with them.}
♥ reason four; the clothes {...because despite the fact that she only has three outfits left, she looks hot in any of them.}
The business clothes. She has to maintain some sense of decorum, after all, even though everybody just wants to drool all over her.
She looks serene and simply beautiful in everything she wears. No matter if it's a lavender-coloured dress thingy or a prison jump suit.
The New Caprica sweaters! So casual, but still pretty.
Honorary mention: The red dress. It's the unofficial competition here, because it's a nice colour on her - even Bill knows (and notices!) that.

At the ship's christening: Laura almost smashes the bottle, everybody jumps up to try to stop her.

Laura: If I follow that thought... Are you saying that humanity died because I died? If you're my subconscious, I've gotta say you're a little full of myself.

Laura: And if you strike this down, then you can all go back to your constituency and you can tell them what you've done and we the people will have triumph but think about what it's going to cost you, because every single one of you remember what it was like when Gaius Baltar had political power, and you should be terrified to think about what this man will do with blind religious devotion. Baltar: Do? What are you suggesting? That we throw it out of an airlock?

As you can probably tell, I love seeing her teach and interact with children in general. She's just great at that. ♥

Bonus: Mary McDonnell
Mary: I love it when a director provides me almost a shadow, so I know that somebody is there with me. I'm like Peter Pan with the shadow sewn on. I'm not scared to go where I have to go - into these strange places and possibly fall into these holes and make mistakes - as long as the director is there with me. I don't like feeling alone.
Mary on Laura: I love the idea of a woman being able to discover the idea of power this way, on such a scale. And I don't know about that, what it means - well, I guess I'd better, or my part's in trouble.
Special Bonus: Mary McDonnell & Edward James Olmos
Eddie on Mary: Once she starts to laugh, you can't stop her. We've had to shut down production for three hours. (...) And nobody's laughing except Mary.
Mary on Laura/Bill: Well, I don't know what Ron has in mind, but I do know about the arc of the show. Looking at how intuitive and instinctive Eddie and I play, that is the sort of thing that leads into sexual chemistry. I wouldn't be surprised if it emerged.
Eddie on Mary: It's a blessing to work with an artist like her.
Mary on Laura/Bill and Eddie: If they continue to have to have to focus outside of themselves, and they continue to have to partner and find common ideas and make commitments, they end up joining hearts despite their stubbornness, despite their personalities or their obstinate natures. So I was really excited by it, this season, to be able to see that these two people, despite all of that, join hearts. And it's been thrilling. I mean to play that after all of that loneliness...Well, seriously, this woman, you know, I mean, that was a lot of aloneness, right? No friends, no girlfriends, let alone a boyfriend. You know what I mean? And so this has been a beautiful thing for her and therefore for me to play, because Eddie is such a ...genius in his way, and it's so delightful to play with him, it's easy. It's easy. It’s just he's present and there's chemistry and commitment and there's power and ... so ... what's not to love?
Eddie on Mary: On and off camera, I love that woman. ♥
