So a couple weeks ago we went to FireJam, a monthly event that happens under the Marquam overpass next to the Hawthorne Bridge where the local firedance community come out to play and practice. It was very cool, and we took some pictures (duh).

you can learn how to use fire pois (the balls that swing on chains) really easy from this website. but, i wouldn't advise going out and buying fire pois straight off. you can make them like my sister did, with haki sacks (those balls full of beads that kids kick in their air with their feet) or tennis balls attached to thick cord. the finger pieces you can buy from tribally kinda stores, or also just make out of the same thick cord. it's how i learned to swing pois, and i can even do fire ones now. WOO!
