please post some band names...im sick of my music and i am looking for something mostly upbeat, mellow, and to give you some place to start from im looking for something belle and sebastian or the shins like
Good acoustic albums: Unwritten Law "Music in High Places" Godsmack "The Other Side"
Other suggestions: Scrubs soundtrack Something Corporate Dispatch Jimmy Eat World Red Hot Chili Peppers The Decemberists Incubus Dr. Horrible Sing-Along Blog (had to recommend it anyways) Jason LeVasseur Dashboard Confessional Calexico Blue October
If you really want to discover new bands check out Pandora. It's an online radio station. You create your stations by entering bands and songs you like then giving thumbs ups or downs on suggestions and it gives you more music choices. Some of the bands I listed may not seem like the bands you listed but I think they have songs that remind me of them so might be worth a listen.
Glad to see more people using it. I love it, and hoping the site doesn't get shut down. It seems that a lot of online radio is going the way of the dinosaur or cassette tapes.
I use it too. I'll post a link once I poke around and find out how- my stuff tends to be a little more gothy, but I like upbeat stuff too. I guess I'm musically ecclectic :D
I can't stick to one theme per station *rolls her eyes* silly rora
Jem aly & aj cover a lot of pop songs Katy Perry Kerli (upbeat but gothy) Kylie Minogue Gwen Stefani CSS (music is my hot hot sex! such a fun song) Cascada KT Tunstall Bitter:Sweet Zombie Girl (not upbeat, but, uh, fun if you like zombies?) Nightbeast (Nightbeast Theme is fun) The Riddler (you promised me) Imogen heap
so, yeah, not sure how much of this is upbeat like you were looking for. I don't listen to "boo hoo I'm emo" music, but it is usually pop/techno mixed with gothy/industrial stuff.
My stations currently are semi-punk in nature, classic rock, and orchestra/soundtrack themed. I also have an electronica station as well that I zone out to.

Mika
Kate Nash
Lily Allen
Lenka (Though I think she's Australian...)
Not to sound cliche, but there's also Tegan and Sara. (They're currently my favorite band.)
