rising waters
The rain had continued to pour non-stop for twenty-four hours, worsening during the late night hours. By mid-morning, those who were awake would discover the streets already flooded by almost a foot of the strange, dark water-as well as the houses and all other buildings.
And it was still rising.
It was clear that the rain was not going to stop, and with each passing hour the water was rising higher and higher. By evening it would have reached twenty feet. By midnight...well one could imagine.
As people began to flee their once safe homes for higher ground, they would also soon discover something else that was strange: There were no other people, and there were no other animals. Somehow or another, all the local people and animals had disappeared, perhaps overnight. Even those who had been in their mysterious prolonged mysterious sleep were gone. Only animals to be found were on the floating mountain, but it would take a while before anyone would realize it. There was still one large creature roaming through the water, however; a creature that many may find glad to have been around. Especially when new more dangerous creatures would later start to lurk the dark waters once the sun set.
Throughout this time, that strange ghost girl just continued to laugh and laugh and laugh, floating high above as she watched everyone panic and try to escape the flooding waters.
"It's raining, it's pouring!
I hear the thunder roaring!
The waters will rise and drown you dead
Before tomorrow's morning!"
[ooc: At long last, Somarium is flooding. For a general timeline of how fast the water is rising, at 11:00 AM it was only a foot high. Water will have seeped in through all buildings. By evening, around 7:00 PM, the water will have risen to twenty feet. By midnight, it will have reached fifty feet. It will reach the eighty foot maximum at around 3 AM.
It's rising, and it's rising fast.
As mentioned in the original Moon Cycle post, the lake monster Nessie will be around to help save any who are caught in the flood. Also, the monsters will not appear until dark. There were only be a couple of sightings before they become a serious threat. By then most people should have been evacuated.
