As dawn approached and the sun began to rise, the dark clouds slowly began to part. An eerie chorus of howls echoed across Somarium as the strange monsters that had plagued it suddenly withdrew, either by sinking into the depths of the water or fleeing through the barrier and into the desert toward the sink hole.
There was a moment of complete silence before a deafening crack and the sound of something metallic being ripped apart tore through the silence. This lasted for one solid minute before the roar of water rushing out followed it.
For anyone who could see, the water was flowing out in one specific direction: the sink hole. The barrier had once again been ripped open, and the magical glyphs that formed it were shimmering brilliantly. It was through this tear that the water flooded out, causing the water receding rapidly. Within the span of an hour, the only traces left of the flood were the damages it had done and the black puddles it had left behind.
Any buildings that had remained standing were severely water damaged, and the cottages from the village would need to be completely rebuilt. Only a lucky few remained standing whole. The lower levels of high rise buildings would need to be checked to see if they were even still safe. Most of the electricity was gone, and there was most definitely going to be a food shortage.
For some, it was almost as if the apocalypse had come and gone and they were now left to fend for themselves. Those who had been in Somarium before its early remodeling may even find the scene eerily familiar. Until the locals returned, Somarium would seem almost like a dead city, with only the current residents as its inhabitants.
And this had been during the full moon, a time where things were usually more cheerful and positive. As the moon began to wane, one only had to wonder what the new moon had in store for them.
