[the fountain was clearly Somarium's #1 meeting spot. given that it was located at the exact center and was distinguishable (perfectly symmetrical rabbit...!), it was no surprise. in fact, as Kid walked up the street toward it, he was reminded how he met Maka there just a month ago. it was rather strange...she returned home, came back some time, had no memory of Somarium and came from an earlier point, left again, and then returned only less than a week later remembering everything but that month.

Somarium. the most chaotic world with no order or pattern whatsoever.

he raised a hand as he approached.]

Sorry if I kept you waiting.

[at his voice, she perked up, then shook her head after he spoke]

Don't worry about it. I'm not too far from here to begin with. But anyway...

Ready to see the tunnels?

[nods]

Yeah, let's head in.

[nods and...

...he looks a bit perplexed.]

In order to open the entrance, one has to press a button hidden in that center pillar beneath the statue but... [well, the fountain was currently running a lot more water. and said water was cascading all the way around it.

he'll be kind of. looking at Maka pleadingly right about now.]

...

[omg you are such a spoiled rich kid]

Alright, alright...

[with a resigned sigh, Maka slips off her boots (there was no way she was going to get those ruined in the water) and climbs into the fountain, holding up the ends of her coat as she plods through the shallow waters of the fountain and to the pillar. searching for the button's exact location only took a quick moment, and with that found, she presses it without hesitation.]

[he doesn't want his clothes to get wet, okay. it wasn't his suit but still. MUST STAY CLEAN. AND BALANCED.

anyway, the moment she pushes the button, there's a bit of a rumble before the whole submerged platform the statue was resting on rises so that it was now above water, stepping stones also rising to the surface. the rabbit statue continue to slowly spin and rise even higher before it stops right in front of Maka to reveal the dark entrance down the spiraling staircase that descended to the tunnels below.]

[good thing Maka had good balance; as the fountain began to shift around, with a bit of a surprised "whoa!" she quickly began to move herself out of the fountain (mostly to regain her shoes).

... huh.]

And to think this fountain had something underneath it this whole time... I never would have guessed.

Yes, it's quite a good cover. The fountain would be the last place one would suspect anything to be found.

[he waits for Maka to don her shoes before stepping up to the fountain's rim and now walking across the stepping stones.

stepping only on the exact center of each, of course.]

[that she does, and with boots now donned she follows behind Kid]

No kidding. Nobody suspected a thing, even when we had a huge clue smacking us right in our faces. It wasn't until it practically made itself known.

Did you know about the tunnels during your previous stay?

[descending into the darkness-

only not really because magical lights were brightening the way before them.]

Well, kind of. It was revealed there was something like a tunnel under here, but the police force deemed it too dangerous to wander into until further notice, so they guarded the fountain pretty heavily. I never had the chance to see what was down here for myself.

Ah. I suppose it wouldn't matter since I am on the police force and would have access regardless.

They wouldn't have anything to worry about, though. The tunnels are relatively harmless and all the traps have been deactivated. We even have a map at our disposal.

Yeah. You couldn't have showed up sooner? It would've saved me the trouble.

[she laughs a little in jest]

A map, huh? Convenient. How much do you know about this place?

[he does give her a small smile before answering her question.]

Not much outside what is given. It seemed more like an underground military base camp with the various rooms. Storage, barracks, armories, conference room...there wasn't much to find unfortunately.

However, there was one room in particular that had piqued my interest.

[going through the tunnels as he talked. since he had been there not too long ago, he remembered the shortest path to his destination perfectly. but it would still take a bit of walking.]

... A military base camp? That's weird. What would they need that here for...

[still following close behind, Maka mulls on this briefly before she's piqued again]

-- Hm? What is it?
