Alice needed a new book to read. She had come to return a book as she had always visited the library, several times due to one adorable pony. Twilight is just so adorable so it's hard to resist coming here when she didn't have a reason. Talking ponies, what more did you need?
But of course, she did have a reason this time and didn't plan on bothering the pony today. She stares up at the shelf, not to far away from where Vanessa was standing.
"............ Maybe something about baking this time..."
Sorry, Alice, but she's not going to address concerns unless she's directly asked to. Nothing personal. Though, she does at least look at the shelf that Alice is looking at before turning back to her work. Where the hell does this book go...
And with that Vanessa has caught her attention. Alice glances in her direction, wondering what she was doing. It became very apparent after a few minutes and as soon as she figured it out she averts her gaze elsewhere. It was a little embarrassing to realize only now that it was rude to stare, hopefully the other didn't notice. She quietly clears her throat.
"Excuse me. Do you need some help?"
She has helped Twilight in the past, so offering a hand shouldn't seem to absurd, right?
Huh? Isn't this girl just browsing for books? What sort of person asks another if they need help when they're not working themselves? She's clearly confused by the question, and as such takes a moment before she manages to say anything.
"No, not at all." Though, the book is still in her hands and not back on the shelf yet.
Just for starters she decided to tell her that. She smiles sheepishly when doing so hoping that she doesn't offend her. She's just trying to help after all!
Hm? She glances back up at said shelf and finally notices that yes, the numbers and name end up matching a spot just in between two others. Really, it would be much more simple if they arranged it by name instead of by topic and then individual number and then name. What a hassle.
She slips the book into place and then looks back down at the young girl.
"Ah, my name is Alice, Alice Liddell." She continues to smile before shaking her head and continuing, "I only helped a few times when Twilight needed it... other wise I guess I just come here a lot to read."
A pause, "It's nice though... working in the library isn't it?"
Well she doesn't seem like the type that would work, actually she reminds her a little of Vivaldi. Sure, she seems to have more of a temper but... the Queen does chop heads off so it's probably very different case.
"I..." She doesn't really know how to answer to that since she doesn't actually work. She had always taken care of Julius around the house like back in Heartland. It was no different here... except now he's gone.
"I've only helped around the house for a friend... But I guess I should find something else to do now that he's gone."
She tries to conceal her disappointment in his departure, she should be happy for him... or was it even something to be happy about? Being stuck there only meant making more clocks, and that makes him unhappy.
She does her best not to let her emotions show on her face; the pain that she'd felt when Elliot had disappeared and she'd thought she'd be cursed to live this false afterlife without him, but they still show through a bit as she answers.
"It's better for almost everyone...to not be subjected to this horrible world."
But of course, she did have a reason this time and didn't plan on bothering the pony today. She stares up at the shelf, not to far away from where Vanessa was standing.

And promptly ignores them.

"And who are you? Do you also work here?"
Yes, that's a 'thank you'. Maybe.

"I've never had to do anything like this before, but...well, in situations like this, one must pull their own weight."

"Then wouldn't it be better to find a job you actually like?"

She picks up another book, but this time finds the spot where it's supposed to go easily.

For the first time, she sounds almost concerned.
