Trapped in a Nightmare

Sep 20, 2011 19:06

It had been about half an hour since the group who had volunteered (and not volunteered) to join the dreamscape first arrived into the setting Sylvani provided. Though they could not see her, they could at least hear her voice. She had explained to them that this was one of the major battles between the more powerful dreamwalkers and the invading ( Read more... )

It looks like we're stuck here as well. I tried to see if I could 'wake out' of this, but it's not working. Can any of you?

Nothing at all. You can feel the difference now, too, right?

Yes, I can. We are definitely now part of this dreamscape rather than being mere observers.

That person... Now that she's revealed herself to us, we definitely know who's responsible for this-- and everything else that's going wrong, too.

She said her name was Nitiri...but how was she able to enter the dreamscape? I had assumed that Sylvani was powerful, but if this woman was able to enter and even change the very nature of this dreamscape, then we may be facing a bigger threat than even they are aware of.

It only makes sense she's powerful, if she's this "ruler of nightmares"-- after all, if this is the kind of opponent they've been facing all this time... She isn't someone to take lightly.

Clearly not.

[looks around. he could already sense the foreign but clearly dangerous souls of the noctaere and others drawing closer.]

But for now we should figure out where to go from here. There's quite a number of us, and staying together will be near impossible if we're attacked. We should at least find some place safe.

But we can't just stand aside and wait for this to blow over, either! We have to--

[she stops short after looking up beyond the crowds]

... Huh? What the...

We have to formulate a plan-

[and looking at her.]

What is it?

-- Hey, can you sense her soul at all? I wanted to keep track of her, but I can't pick up on anything.

Her soul?

[well now that she mentioned it...]

...No, I cannot. I also don't recall sensing it when she first appeared, either.

Great. So much for this being easy.

As if it ever is. However, even if we do encounter her again, we are at a great disadvantage here.

It's still worth a shot. What else can we do?

[he's silent as he thinks. on the one hand, Maka had a point. they couldn't just sit around and wait for this to be fixed, if that was even an option. for all they knew they were stuck here for an indeterminate amount of time. on the other hand, because of the uncertainty of their situation, they couldn't just rush in blindly without knowing anything about their environment. it was asking for suicide, and dreamscape or not, who knew if even the same principles followed? there was also the fact that there were a lot of people here stuck with them. it wasn't just their little group involved in this.]If we are to pursue Nitiri, we need to be understand our situation. We should also consult with those who are with us. There may be others who share the sentiment, and the last thing we need is conflict. There may also be those here who cannot even fight and are therefore defenseless should they be attacked. Don't forget that we have been thrust into the middle of a literal war zone ( ... )

[... damn. Kid was right; Maka's immediate thought was to go right after her, because after at least a year of trouble brewing because of her, the source of it all was finally here! why shouldn't they make a go for it? but... given the circumstances, was it the best course of action?]

Our Dreamberries...?

[her hand goes to the usual pocket hers is kept in-- and feeling it still resting in there, Maka quickly pulls it out]

Oh, here! With any luck, it should still work as usual, too.
