Since arriving back in Somarium, Ty Lee had quickly adjusted to the fact that she had been here before. All her memories had come back in tact, and for the most part she had been able to avoid awkward encounters with people that she had been friends with before but couldn't remember until something triggered it. She was still living in Takuma's mansion in the guest room and was still intent on finding a place of her own to live. If she'd had the opportunity, she would have moved right back into the carnival but it was still up in the air, completely out of her reach. At least things were coming together nicely. Keeping herself busy certainly kept her mind off of the situation at home but she couldn't help but find herself drifting back to it when she was in her room at night.
Using the Dreamberry had come back to her pretty quickly as well, and it hadn't taken her long to see that Zuko was here. Unfortunately, every time she had tried to call him he hadn't picked up and she hadn't been able to find him at all. It was bad enough to know that Mai was in that situation but also to see that Zuko wasn't answering didn't help matters. She knew he was probably in a sleep coma, but it still worried her nonetheless. Every time she found herself thinking things like that, Ty Lee had simply shaken them away and resolved to put a sunny disposition on. What good would worrying do for her aura? Everything was going to be okay. Zuko was going to wake up and then she'd have a friend from home and Mai was going to be safe. Everything was going to be okay.
And that's the mentality that she had that day when she set out towards Beat's apartment. She had taken her time, mostly getting distracted by all the sights of the city. The jacket was folded neatly in her arms and even though she had mittens on, they did add an extra sense of warmth to her hands. Another thing that had been bothering her since her arrival had been Beat. The boy had been undeniably cute and had a kind aura despite the tough exterior; anyone with a turtleduck for a pet couldn't be a bad person - but that wasn't what had been bothering her. Despite the flirting (well, really, one sided flirting on her part), there had been something niggling in the back of her head and it had been the way he had introduced himself to her. As if he had almost been hopeful.
She had figured out pretty quickly who she had known before and who she hadn't, but even though she was sure that most of her memories were back, there had been a significant empty spot where she felt someone should have been. None of her friends had told her asked her anything otherwise though, so for the most part, it had been her problem to figure out on her own. There had to be something there, she just knew it. And she had done everything that Castiel had mentioned to her. She had gone around Somarium for the most part and slowly, things had come back except that one blank spot. A grinding against the pavement signalled Ty Lee just in time to move out of the way as a boy came speeding by on a board with wheels on it and Ty Lee looked after him, puzzled as a voice in her memory corrected her. It wasn't a 'board with wheels', it was a skateboard.
And just like that, something clicked. The girl took off, not even pausing to figure out which way to go because it seemed as if her feet were doing the thinking for her. The apartment buildings blurred past her before she made a sharp turn into one, barely squeaking out a thank you to the doorman before hitting the elevator button impatiently. She gave up waiting and turned towards the stairs, taking them two, three, four at a time before she reached the fourth floor and ran directly to the door 408. After knocking, it seemed like impossibly long time for her to wait for Beat to open the door and it barely registered that she'd probably have to come up with some sort of reason as to why she was so out of breath. After all, what was coming back to her, she couldn't even be a 100% sure. And if it were true, what if he was angry at her and didn't want to forgive her for forgetting?
The girl didn't have much time to worry though because soon enough she heard the telltale quack of Kazuo, her Kazuo she realized with a happy laugh, and the footsteps of the occupant inside.
