Ambushed; AND by a box. Smouldering with sullen shame, Goemon knew for certain that he wouldn’t be able to face his ancestors.
His mistake had been in thinking logically, walking past it believing it to be anything but a man-eating cannibox thing with a cruel sense of humour. It wasn’t satisfied with simply trapping him in a dark, confined space; whatever mischief this inanimate object had been imbued with, it extended to the lengths of shiny ribbon inside it that bound his arms back in a skillful way belonging to the familiar samurai art of hojojutsu. It had stopped him from reaching for Zantetsuken - which, while still jaggedly broken, would have easily been able to slice through cardboard given that the blade was no longer made of fondant. No convenient escape here.
The box was holding him prisoner.
In the process of struggling (the box saw it fit to bounce a little to disorient him - it actually had done a bit traveling around Somarium via hopping), Goemon’s Dreamberry slid out of his hakamashita and smacked against the floor of the box. And of course, the treacherous device, with its own cruel sense of humour, saw it fit to turn itself on and record the following. The image is somehow fairly clear despite the lack of light.
Viewers are offered a close-up of the ronin’s face, hair disheveled, his eyes bitterly narrowed - and for nearly the entire length of the video, he just breathes through this indignity, a bit sore if not somewhat sick from being jostled around. He doesn't actually have enough room to roll away and onto his back if he meant to. "Unforgivable..." Goemon hisses tightly under his breath.
This massive box may now be on your doorstep, under a tree, or in the middle of the street. Unfortunately, what's inside isn't very charming at this particular moment...
