[Rapunzel hasn't seen Flynn during most of the time she's been dancing, both on her own and pulling everyone within reach into the crowd. Finally spotting him, however, her face lights up and she gestures from the edge for him to join in]

[Oh there you are, silly girl. The dance has already started though, might be a nuisiance for him to just jump right into a the middle of it.

[Where's Maximus to push Flynn in when you need him? Rapunzel is undeterred; though she's whirled back into the crowd in the thick of the dance, she manages to work her way back around and try again]

Come on, Flynn!

[she'll use force if she must]

[Maximus is far away from Flynn, WHERE HE BELONGS Flynn aims another headshake her way, and calls:]

I'll take the next one! Just enjoy yourself!

[it's a bit of a cover-up as well since he kinda wants to watch her for a bit. Rapunzel is definitely not plain-looking to him, but when she was having fun like this - like in that random sing-along in the Snuggle Duckling - she had this way of, for lack of a better description, lighting up.

[Rapunzel shakes her head in return and dances all the way over to him, doing what she's been doing to everyone else: grabbing him by the arm in hopes of dragging him with her]

I am having fun, Eugene. That's why you should join!

[she's pink-faced and a little breathless, but come on, it's fun!]

[how could he say no to that? He takes her arm in return and allows himself to be drawn in]

I don't know this one so if I step on your feet, it's your fault. [but of course he won't, he's as quick on his feet as he is with his hands] What do I do now?

[he's kinda just standing in the middle of all the dancing bodies. what do, Blondie?]

[here's a laugh] I don't know any better than you do, to be honest!

[of course she's never learned any group dances up in that tower, but she knows how to dance (one of the many things she taught herself to pass time); but all she's really doing is moving with a sense of rhythm and doing whatever feels right with the music]

You are unbelievable!

[he is laughing at her audacity. Oh Blondie, only you. After a moment of decision, he picks her up and swings her around in a half-circle. And in a tone of mischief, after he sets her down:] Are you ready for the dance of your life?

'Unbelie--' eep!

[she gasps when he picks her up, automatically reaching for his shoulders]

Eugene!

[she takes a moment to steady herself after her surprise]

Yes-- yes, let's dance!

[hear it? He feels it. You've got a talent for making the fun contagious, girl. His hands are on her waist now and he leads them into the crowd!]

[she can't stop laughing and grinning, more pleased than she knows she should be that Flynn is dancing with her. she places one hand on a shoulder, then takes one of his from her waist and holds it tight before spinning with him]

[there's the slightest faltering in her face, barely perceptible to only the most perceptive of eyes. "home" is an isolated tower; this is the first time she's done something like this. but she knows Flynn didn't mean it like that]

Well-- I've never done anything like this before. [clutches him more tightly as they continue to dance] But it's true that this whole place feels more right than does the rest of this world-- and seeing and doing everything for the first time is part of what's making this so amazing!

[Perceptive eyes Flynn has got and he could kick himself for the slip. In his mind, Rapunzel fits right in with the festivals he remembers attending at Corona, so putting them together seemed like the natural thing to do]

...right. Sorry about that. [he gives her hand a light squeeze in return] I should probably get you to that lantern festival soon then, huh? If you like this, you'll love it there.

I want to go more than anything. [she doesn't bother trying to hide the wistfulness in her voice] It really must be so amazing. Do you think they do it here, too, Eugene? Even if it's not exactly the same.

[she doesn't really think they do, but man is there hope]

[he doubts that anyone outside of Corona is familiar with the old tradition, but hey, who is he to crush the hopes of the innocent girl wrapped up in his arms?]

Why not? I've met the guy who organized this fair and he gave me the impression that they put on stuff like this on a regular basis.
