This post is for players to contact the mods about any complaints, concerns, or other private issues they may have in the game. It's basically another way to contact the mods privately.
Somarium is a game, intended to be fun, and we really want everyone to be able to enjoy it as much as possible. Therefore, if you're having some kind of problem, we really, really want you to be able to tell us about it, so we can do our best to fix it and make the game more enjoyable. While problems can also be addressed on the Questions/Suggestions post, we realize that some issues, particularly conflicts with other players, are sensitive topics that people would feel uncomfortable posting in public.
Thus, this post was created particularly for sensitive issues. All comments are screened, and anonymous commenting is on.
NOTES
- Everything said on this post remains confidential. We do our best to be as discrete as possible, and not drag anyone else into issues unless absolutely necessary. If the issue involves another player, we will most likely have to speak with them, but we will not reveal to that person who made the complaint unless it becomes absolutely necessary, or if you give us permission to do so.
- If your complaint is about the way the game is run, or any other kind of mod action, that's fine. We know that we're capable of being wrong, or making a decision not everyone agrees with. We can handle criticism, and we really welcome it if it helps us improve the game. We aren't easily offended and we're not going to bite your head off if you say something negative about us, so long as you aren't rude about it.
- Don't worry about "bothering" us. If it's a problem, and there's something we might be able to do about it, we want to know. Even if it's something small, tell us anyway.
POSTING FORM
Copy and paste the following form in reply to this entry:
[Type of Concern] [Details of Concern] [Permissions] [Contact] [Type of Concern] Here you'd put something like "Problem with ___ plot" or "Issue with ___ player". Just a short thing to let us know if it's a plot issue, a problem with another player, a concern about a recent mod decision, or whatever it is.
[Details of Concern] This is the most important part: explain the issue. Go into as much detail as you can; give examples, link to threads, post bits of chat logs, anything you think is necessary or would be helpful. The more detail you give us here, the fewer questions we have to ask. Also be sure to tell us what you have in mind for how we could resolve the issue; do you want us to reconsider a decision, change something in the game, help mediate a conversation with another player? We won't always be able to do things like change rules or decisions, but if you tell us what you'd like us to do, then we can at least try to work to a good compromise.
[Permissions] This is mostly for if your issue involves another player. In that case, we will most likely have to speak to that player at some point. By default, we won't tell them who you are, or give any more detail than we have to. This section of the form is where you specify exactly what you're comfortable with us sharing. If it's okay for us to tell someone else involved who you are, say that; if it's okay for us to mention specific parts of your complaint, say that; if there's a specific part of your complaint you don't want us to share, say that; if you don't want us to say anything at all, say that too. (Note that in some cases we might have to tell the other person who you are, if you're having a specific issue with them and you'd like us to mediate it or something.)
[Contact] Because of the way screened comments work, unfortunately, we can't reply to you here and still kept the reply private. Therefore, please tell us how you'd like us to contact you if we have any additional questions or would like to follow up with something. Give us an email address, an AIM screenname, something. This is especially important if your comment is anonymous and we don't know you are; you can give us a secondary email address or something that isn't listed on the player contact page. If you comment here logged-in, there's also the option of us replying here and immediately screening the reply; you won't be able to view it on the page, but you should get an email notification with the contents of our reply. And if you don't want us to contact you at all, you can say that too; just make sure you've given us enough information that we won't need to ask any more questions.
We will try to reply to concerns as soon as possible. Some things might take longer to discuss than others, and sometimes other circumstances might force us to be a bit slow, but we will reply as soon as we can. If you think we're taking entirely too long about it, you can comment again to ask what's going on.
