SOMARIUM LAW

HELLO EVERYONE!

So Yuli, Laena and I have been in talks about coming up with an In-Character Law Code for all Somarium characters. Since Miles Edgeworth and Javert have a penchant and love for Law, they are intending to revive and enforce a law system in Somarium.

Inside the cut are our thoughts on how this will work. If you have any input, please let us know - this is to make the game fun for all! Suggestions, questions, anything are welcome, so feel free to comment.

    SOMARIUM LAW

For those of you who happened to catch the thread, Edgeworth and Javert have discovered the Somarium Law Code. These laws will become available on the Dreamberry network once Miles Edgeworth or Javert make an announcement on the Dreamberry.

Although it is impossible to codify all the laws of a country/nation/land in one simple, succinct post, I will briefly cover the most severe laws and the subsequent punishment system so that we're all on the same page.

Criminals (if you're obvious about your crimes and you are caught) will be investigated and apprehended by the Somarium Police, headed by Miles Edgeworth (administrative head) and Chief Inspector Javert (Investigative figure). There is a temporary holding facility in the Courthouse, where both Miles and Javert have their offices.

Major crimes, such as murder, manslaughter, assault, etc. will be dealt with on a trial-by-jury basis. There will be a representative for the prosecution and a representative for the defense. Since no suitable judge exists, a preselected jury will vote and determine whether the defendant should be condemned to punishment.

Punishments will always be arranged on a player-by-player basis. Only what is requested and permitted by the condemned's player will be implemented. Punishments can range from a two-week boot camp with Volgin to a simple status effect card depending on the severity of the crime. Punishments will be determined by NPC Ghosts via a DreamBerry Card. The condemned is required to use the card on their DreamBerries and accept whatever consequence is administered.

Petty crimes such as thievery against others will be dealt with outside of the courts by Edgeworth and the police force. Punishments will generally be minor but will be along the lines of a few days in a holding cell. Simple 'dream fines' may come into effect once the credit system (scheduled to go up shortly) is implemented.

And that about sums it up so far.

Thoughts? Opinions? Let's hear it!
