❖ MOON CYCLE 52 ❂ 02/01/11 - 02/07/11
Phase: One-quarter waxing. The moon has reemerged, a single bright spot in the destruction left behind by the Yeti.

Weather: The wind has died down, but the temperatures remain at a chilly 30 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. All is still, and the skies are clear.

Effects: None this week. Characters have enough to deal with in the aftermath of Yeti destruction.

Notes: Lots of notes this time around with regard to Yeti Destruction Aftermath, so read carefully!

  • The Yeti is Dead! YAY! Good job, Sommunists! Now, you might be wondering just what happened to a gigantic yeti body. Never fear. When the yeti died, it shrunk, and essentially the rabbit fountain in the middle of Espoir square opened up and swallowed the body up. Not literally of course; scientists and other characters are free to travel down into the tunnel entrance to investigate the yeti body (or what's left of it) and conduct studies as necessary.

Note: We'll still backtag any Yeti threads-sorry for the sudden slowness, we'll be picking back up speed hopefully by tomorrow!
  • Destruction in the Barrier, Somni Residential District, and Espoir Village. The scorch marks and tear through the barrier are visible and pulsing brightly right near the sink hole at the far border of the Residential District (District 1). From this tear in the barrier all the way to Espoir Village is a long line, like a burrow, of carnage and destruction, with buildings bowled over or ripped in pieces. No character apartment buildings have been destroyed, but Rivera Apartments now have prime views of a wasteland of destruction and not a beautiful city scape. There is a lot of widespread destruction in Espoir Village. Residents in Espoir Village Cottages may choose on their own whether their cottage has incurred damage or not. The former location of the Overlord's Ghost Shop has been obliterated.
  • No More Noctaere. Upon the Yeti's defeat, all noctaere will have disappeared, so no one will have to worry about those things for a while.
  • Occasional Desert Monster Stragglers. Due to the permanent hole in the Somni city desert barrier, the occasional desert monster will manage to slip inside the city. These won't be very common, and for the most part city police and the barrier will zap monsters before they enter, but every now and then something will get by. Watch out if you're hanging around near the lake or the far edges of the Somni Residential District!
  • The Floating Mountain is Freed From Ice... But Dangers Still Lurk. The floating mountain is now accessible via the usual travel pad, and the black ice has receded from around its base. Now the mountain, like the Floating Castle Reverein before it, drifts softly around the Somarium skies. Anyone who travels up to the mountain may run into 'mini-yetis' lurking in around its peak. By mini we mean roughly seven-foot-tall yetis, so they still pack a punch.
  • Reconstruction Efforts Are Starting Now! Characters and players who have been around Somarium for a long time might recall this dream world's remarkable regenerative ability. Well, that is no more. The destruction has persisted past the change of the moon in the sky, and everything that has been wrecked must be rebuilt manually. That means NPCs are hard at work attempting to rebuilt what has been lost of the city, and they will likely erect a memorial to those who died in the attack in the coming weeks. Characters are free to help in reconstructive efforts, but keep in mind a reasonable and realistic time frame for all projects. For example, if you chose to have your Espoir cottage destroyed, plan on setting aside a month to two months for a full rebuild before your characters can move back in.

  • And that's all for this cycle. Any questions may be dropped into the post below!

❖ SO WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE FROM SOMARIUM?

After a few months of heavy plot events, we're giving the game a small bit of downtime. This is also to help the game recover from the most recent event.

But that doesn't mean players can't have plots of their own! So we're using this post to give a giant shout out for players to come and post any potential character-based plots you might have in mind for either this month or upcoming. It could be short term events, or something that could be long term. Spill out your ideas!

Also, this is an opportunity for players to step forward and make suggestions for any future events we could throw. We want to look toward you, the players, to see what kinds of events you would like to see from the mods. These don't necessarily have to be plot related. What we're really looking for is to see what players expect from the game, and what they would like to play out.

So feel free to suggest and plot to your heart's content!
