[Powers & Abilities]
Originally a Vasto Lorde, the highest achieved level of growth and strrength for a Hollow, Ulquiorra's small frame betrays his powerful abilities. Ranked as the Cuatra Espada, this is not a title he carries without reason, the number bearing enough of its own implications for his nature. His standard abilities as an arrancar consist of the use of Pesquisa- being able to sense notable reiatsu/spiritual presences, Sonido- the arrancar's version of a shinigami's flash-step/shunpo, Cero- which is a standard Hollow attack carried over, consisting of concentrated spiritual energy which is released in a large and often devastating blast, and Bala- another offensive attack that also involves the gathering of spiritual energy to be expelled, however can be pulled off faster and in rapid succession. An arrancar's skin is known as hierro which directly translates as steel, and for good reason. Their skin is tough, almost like armor itself.
As each of the Espada seem to have one thing they excel at above the others, Ulquiorra specializes in regeneration. He uses this sparingly as he usually has no extreme problems in normal combat, and he can regenerate anything so long as it isn't a vital organ. This ability gives way to another that he makes use of in his reporting to Aizen- his recording eye. By crushing his eye he can show a chosen audience all that he has observed recently, and his eye will regenerate thereafter.
Aside from the clothes on his back, Ulquiorra has his sword, shaped like a katana and in following the Shinigami standards for their general naming of their personal weapons, is also called a zanpakutou. For the Arrancar, this embodies a part of themselves, acting as a seal to their power as before they removed their masks. Ulquiorra's zanpakutou is named Murciélago, and rarely does he make use of it. The blade remains in its sheath most of the time for Ulquiorra proves his hands to be just as deadly a weapon. When he brandishes his zanpakutou, then he means serious business, and his swordsmanship is more than sufficient. As with all the Arrancar, Ulquiorra's true form is bound by his zanpakutou, but accessible by release, not unlike the Shinigami Bankai. His Resurrección is triggered by the command "Tozase" (Bind), his spiritual presence expanding as his true form is revealed. He gains a pair of bat-like wings, his helmet evens out to bear two prongs on eitherside, his uniform becomes more flowing like a robe, and his weapon becomes a lance. His speed increases dramatically, and he can wave off powerful attacks like Ichigo's Getsuga Tensho with a backhand. He gains the use of a more destructive, black Cero called the Cero Oscuras.
He has one more level of Resurrección after this, which he refers to as Resurrección Segunda Etapa. It's the ace up his sleeve as he's the only Espada that has been able to achieve this stage, nor has Aizen seen it. His horns elongate, he loses the helmet completely, his chest almost looks scarred from his hollow hole and straight down his torso. His hands and feet become clawed and covered in fur, he gains a long prehensile tail, and his wings remain. While he excels in hand-to-hand in this form, he can also form a projectile which he calls Lanza del Relampago (Lightning Lance). Its power is devastating but difficult to control, something Ulquiorra is almost reluctant to use in close quarters due to this fact.
