i was raised on soul music and james hunter blows me away. when i was 15 i made a fake id (i still have it) to get into clubs where they played the music he emulates. i danced to sam and dave in a dive on what's now *upper greenville.* when smokey came to town they let me in because the id was so pathetic and probably because i was the only white boy trying to get in. that same id got me into small=time venues to see booker t and the mg's, lou rawls, wilson picket, ike and tina... back in the day.
oh yeah, and the righteous brothers, too.
