I agree, I don't think Facebook or most social media is the right place for that stuff. That's why LJ is so great...you can really narrow your audience down when you need to, and it feels like a much safer venue to put yourself out there and get feedback & advice from.

That's exactly what I was going to say, LJ is perfect for this, and you can make an even smaller friends list of people who you really trust. It's fine, we're here, we get you.

I feel exactly the same way about venting *real* feelings - like I'm being too public about it, ESPECIALLY on fb. I think a big part of this is that online communities do not allow for things like body language to reassure you that you're among friends and they're actually listening to you. You kind of "post and hope" like what Heather was saying.

I've found that I have a NEW level of anxiety built all around my online socializing - I'm constantly afraid that I've been too sarcastic or said too racey a comment. Then I agonize until someone comments on it and I feel better. Geesh.

So... what's up, Strange?
