Congratulations Christopher. Congratulations for having the sensitivity, and the understanding of what Rememberance Day is all about. It is so easy in 2006 to become jaded and forget what the cost has been for freedom for us.
Thanks for remembering.

El Gigantico and I went to our cenotaph in downtown Brampton to partake in Nov 11 ceremonies. I haven't missed a Remembrance Day since my office moved across the street from the cenotaph in 1997. It rained like crazy and it was really cold. The mayor read an account of a regiment that fought and pretty much got wiped out
at Dieppe. As many people were complaining about the rain and cold I couldn't help think about what is was like for our Canadian men that had no choice but to brave the elements and continue to battle the identified enemy. Ironically we went to Vietnamese restaurant for lunch and I couldn't help but think about the unspeakable atrocities that occurred in the name of freedom and democracy since the Korean conflict. It didn't put me off of my #99 (I couldn't tell you what I ate - I only know it by number), but it did depress me a bit.

Thanks you two, its nice to see others holding dates like Rememberance Day in such honour when others seemingly let them pass without so much as a thought. It makes me feel depressed on a few levels.

Drew, you should just have had your giant wife hold out one of her hands to shelter you from the rain.
