I'm very curious to hear how this turns out. I've been debating getting that cookbook. We went to Vietnam and Cambodia (recently), and found that numerous cookbooks re: SE Asia tend to be overly salty if you follow them to the letter, so I'm on the lookout for good ones.
good luck w/ the soup!
(PS, if you are wondering, yes, I was one of the many people who found you through the D&D thing, but I actually added you because of your travel posts).
It turned out very well, I think! My only complaint is that the ratio of broth to noodles and other stuff as called for by the recipe is totally off. I'll post an update.
Glad you liked the travel stuff. :) I really need to post more of that.
well, I think our Cambodia visit was very similar to yours. Phnom Penh and environs, and Siem Reap and Angkor Wat. We had planned only spending a day or two dropping in on Angkor Wat, and were so tickled with Cambodia (once we finally got off the damn buses) that we decided to stay for longer -- so we were in Phnomh Pen for about two and a half days, and Siem Reap/Angkor for about four. Siem Reap was definitely my favorite of the two -- I had a friend who lived in Cambodia for a year tell me that PP takes longer "to digest," but is worth spending more time in. The downtown area had a lot of truly magnificent sites, and there was obviously a lot more to see
