She lives!

Oh, lord. Where to start. I haven't updated this journal in-- almost a year? So there's a lot to explain.

Wait. There is too much. Let me sum up:

Career-wise (Since that's the last thing I posted about):* I made it through my first year of teaching without crying, shouting, or otherwise second-guessing my career path. \o ( Read more... )

all about eve, non-fannish thoughts, silver screen, fannish thoughts

Robin John Blake, according to the wiki. I looked because I was hoping it was actually Robin Jason Blake. The character seems most in tune with the second Robin.

I think the closest Bruce might get to a happy ending would be Batman Beyond -- hurt, utterly badass old man as trainer and voice-in-the-ear of the next Batman.

His choices about how and where to use lethal force were pretty irritating to me, so I don't wish him a happy ending for anyone but Alfred's sake.

Hmm. I get the anger as kind of a Jason Todd characteristic, but I really got more of a young Tim Drake / adult Dick Grayson (at least career-wise) vibe out of the John Blake character. But regardless of John Blake's character amalgamation, I feel you on the Batman Beyond thing. I think that's about as happy as Wayne would ever let himself be.

I love how much you love teaching. I totally get it, and I love teaching myself, though in my own peculiar one-on-one, non-traditional way. There's nothing more amazing than getting a kid excited about learning.

I would look forward to any Avengers-style fic from you. I've been mainlining Avenger fanfic in my non-writing moments. (Books take a lot of energy and time.) When I find someone who does Iron Man's dialogue well, I go nutso fangirling. Also, how many ways can I love Hawkeye, the Black Widow, and Coulson? I don't know. And it's the first time I ever enjoyed the Hulk. Ruffalo for King.

...I may have a few thousand words of a story which ignores the whole Coulson-is-dead crap and has Hawkeye being sarcastic. I have discovered a sincere appreciation of Jeremy Renner's arms and other fine qualities. It's a problem.

Ooooo! LOVELY!

No, no, that's never a problem. Jeremy Renner is hot. Lord God, for a short man with an odd face, he's incredibly hot. And he can act. It's a deadly combination.

Thanks! :) I was very, very proud of how well they did. For teenagers, they're pretty awesome.

And I miss writing Inception stuff! I just haven't had the time, because the story has gotten really, really complicated. :(

in bullet points!

* I have missed you (and worried a little!) and am glad to see you back!

* any fic form you would be great! but I admit I would be particularly overjoyed to see the end of the Arthur/Ariadne epic... *sniff*

* Your thoughts on TDKR match mine a lot, but but but I have missed the Nightwing costume reference? John Blake is SO dreamy, good god. Joseph as Batman - of any kind, Nightwing included - was my fondest wish and I sobbed for joy at the end, heh.

When JGL goes into the Batcave at the end of the film, check out his jacket. It's black with a blue stripe up the sleeves and across the back, like the Nightwing suit (the one without the disco collar). Also, JGL's costuming color pallet is almost exclusively in blues and blacks (which makes sense, given the police thing-- which is also a nice little Grayson reference, perhaps), and I've seen in a few places that some people think the little chalk symbol he draws on the wall looks more like the Nightwing symbol than the Bat.

But I do not really care if the implication is that Blake will be Batman or Nightwing. I just want to see JGL be awesome. Which should not be difficult.

(And... I really do want to finish the Ariadne/Arthur Epic of Epicness. I just need the freaking time.)

I will be on the lookout for the stripes!!

(and I'm content waiting for the epicness to happen. I am very patient for fic, haha. <3)

Dude, I have your Polly and the Pirates book on my dresser, and every time I look at it I think, "I need to figure out a time to hang out with Margot, dammit! It has been way too long and I suck." And then the shit hits the fan, and I don't. I've got a wedding to go to this weekend and pre-planning next week, so-- do you have time this week? Maybe we could do something on Friday?

This is actually the last weekend I have free for like a month - I could do something Friday after I'm done with work. Do you want to grab dinner or something?

Yeah! I'll give you a call this evening and we'll hash something out. (I'd call now, but I'm in public and there are lots of people working quietly.)
