I understand the simplicity of the example, but seriously. Wouldn't someone benefit more from an example that actually needed a sub select vs a TOP 1 ORDER BY?
I'm more disturbed by encouraging the nasty habits of subquerying. It's a short jump to pairing IN (or worse, NOT IN) with subqueries where performance gets wrecked. As they do later in the tutorial. They continue teaching people bad habits...
