Woman dies after son calls 911; dispatchers think it's a prank
An investigation is underway in Detroit after a six-year-old boy called 911 to get help for his mom, and the operator acted as if it were a joke.

Dunno if you were just upset, and saying it, but saying she should be tried for murder is a bit much. Manslaughter, hell yes. But not murder.

I was under the impression that it is standard procedure for police,etc. to be sent out even if it is thought to be a prank. That is terrifying. Little kids get taught from a very young age how to dial 911.

That's what I always thought too. In fact, my little brother called on a dare when he was about 12 and they showed.

Trial for murder wouldn't stick anyway; requires premeditation and deliberation.

I'd go with criminaly negligent homicide (assuming Illinois has that).

I know that little kids get taught that and I think every call should be treated as if though it were serious, if it wasn't then the person who called can be reprimanded.
