Whoa. I really like this. I love your use of past and present tense, but most of all, I love the way you've captured Dickie's anger and guilt. Also, clueless Dewey Crowe as Dickie's surrogate Raylan was just wrong in the best possible way. Going into Memories for sure!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, this is so goood! And very, very Dickie, especially his chagrin at having to put away his things in a bag with someone else's name on it. And poor Dewey. :((((( But also so very Dewey to trust so blindly.

Alive, his mama ran that county like a tyrant. In the ground she’s a saint. There ain’t no sins the grave can’t forgive, son, she used to say to him. He guesses she must be right.
Perfect. Loved it!

Oh, Dewey! Oh, Dickie! You really captured all of them. Even with just that snippet of Raylan. There are certain shows that I feel like I can't write fic for or have a very hard time doing because of the particulars of the characters. I felt like I was watching scenes from the show because you got those things about that characters that are central to them.

I really felt for Dickie as I read this, something I don't think I did as I watched the show.

What I love about good slash is the author's ability to make me believe their universe is plausible. I can only imagine being gay in Harlan and gay for a boy like Raylan.

I also loved the Richard Bennett v. Dickie Bennett.
