Stem Cell research, for instance, is going on unhindered in other countries. Now, that's back along the lines of medical technology, but it is an example.
Stem Cell research serves as even a better example; unlike with space exploration the benefits are readily apparent and achievable within the relative short term and the conflict between Christian mores and the expectant course of action is certainly less than subtle.
This is the world we live in, but I'd like it to improve some how.
It contradicts what example and reason say but that remains my hope aswell.
erm, hope you don't mind, I wanted to respond to your last comment, but didn't want to keep it going on poor jason's journal, heh. Feel free to tell me to go away or delete this or whatever. ^_

First I would like to apologize for the delay. I don’t often check my recent page for replies since make so few posts
I see no way in which I can contest your view of meekness. It would be absurd and unfair to Christian ideas to say that stupidity or being physical lame is virtuous. Certainly praise of meekness is praise of meekness being characterized in one’s actions.
I don't think that helping someone who has a problem qualifies as judgment
No, but determining that they possess a problem certainly does require a value judgment, whether the judgment us original or acceptance of a common view is unimportant.
If modern psychology (and the law, for that matter) tells us that abusive people have such and such a problem and should get help (or get arrested, heh), why should Christians not accept that?Because the claims are secular ones derived independent of scripture. At least that would seem enough reason to maintain suspicion. Please though, do not misinterpret me; I don’t mean to say that a believer should consider all reasoning

It was originally this article that got me thinking about the China’s advantage: Astronaut advocates Spartan space program.
