While reading from the text in my film class, the prof. read something along the lines of " blah blah american standards, blah, mores (pronounced "more-ays"), blah blah." I was about to raise my hand and ask "What's a 'more

a more is basically a social norm. however, it's somewhat universal. a social norm could be that boys are circumcised when they are born... that being something normative for one society, but doesnt necessarily hold the same properties for another society. a more is similar, but just about every society holds it to be true, such as incest being bad. sorry if you already knew this, but yeah... what's amore? that was a bit funny.

he eventually explained it. thankfully i didn't have to ask him to, because i would have laughed way too much. everyone in that class already thinks i'm nuts, anyway. but, yeah... stress from finals, papers, etc. has made me a little out of my head lately, and the "amore" thing just pushed the goofy button in me.
