I forget you're on my list sometimes because the rareness of your posting! LICK! I've been there with my Vancouver pals. Sorry this happened...glad you're ok and it wasn't any more violent. I have actually had this happen to me several times in my life when i lived in NYC. I'm kind of a little thing and have been slugged in the shoulder by passing vagrants (i threw a bottle at him that time) and punched IN THE FACE by a babbling drunk both time while simply strolling along gaily and minding my own business. I was with two friends for the face punch who wanted to go after the person and kill them, but the babbler appeared to be somewhat mentally ill so i persuaded them to drop it just because it seemed pointless and sad.
so i'm not alone, eh? it's just so rare for something like that to happen in van city. i was caught completely off guard.
i appreciate your insight though...and i think i should just start carrying pepper spray with me. i realized after this incident that i have no way of defending myself if i was to ever be attacked. ...or maybe i should learn some sorta ass whoopin' martial art.
