Not sure if al-Jazeera links remain permanent, though. I might be hanging out with Salam in a bit, and maybe Zeid later tonight, if you'd like to join.

Thanks for the link. The whole thing is horrible, but I can't stop following it.

I'm doing a conversation-exchange thingie at 7, but I am free after that. I shall call.

"An Associated Press photographer said he counted 12 bodies in two cars "

Fuck.

Hostile takeover, international style. They've been preparing for this, or they're really good at improvising. :/

Still in Syria? How's it over there?

The best part is they're not even that interested in getting the soldiers back, so they've pretty much revealed what their intentions are.

So if you are in Syria, are things still fairly quiet there? I'm supposed to be flying into Damascus early next month.

for the people, life in damascus goes on as normal... i imagine within the government there is a lot of activity right now, but ther is no noticable change on the street from 1 week ago, other than more people listening to the radio.

i think we have iran to thank for the lack of israeli strikes on syria.

i wouldn't want to advise you either way... i'm planning on staying if israel attacks syria. but, that being said, i don't anticipate israel going that far.
