So, I opened up a news article about "Bush's plan" to quell violence in Iraq, and found roughly half of the article to be about the pissing match between Democrats and Republicans over who can kiss more Zionist/AIPAC ass ( Read more... )

Errr... I'm not really interested in debating Lebanese politics. I'm just going to say I'm familiar with your stance (it is typical of many Christian Lebanese I know) and I disagree with it.

That being said, I think to blame Hezbollah for Israel's complete insanity and disregard for human life plays right into the hands of Israel. They benefit greatly when Lebanese are busy pointing fingers at each other.

Anyway, most of those I hear blaming Hezbollah are middle or upper class Christians who aren't really being affected by this much anyway aside from a bombing of a truck in Achrifieh and some radio towers in the mountains. Though I guess it is mostly the Christians that benefit from the tourist trade... :P

no.

whenever people stop saying what's right because it might play into the hands of somebody else, we're all worse off. that is the sort of crap the right wing in the US spouts, about how we're giving aid and comfort to the enemy if we point out misbehaviour and abuse in our own ranks. it's pernicious nonsense.

hezballah has no more respect for human life than israel, and quite likely less, from what i can see.
