16 - If you could live in any fictional place, where/when/what would it be?
When I was little, I used to make my mother and father tell stories about the Twelve Colonies all the time. It seemed like a fairy tale, really, every time they did. When you're a kid who's never seen anything but the inside of a space ship and the view outside the observation lounge of more space and more space ships, then the idea of twelve entire planets full of people, and each one having its own different terrain and weather patterns? They might as well have been talking about ghost and goblins or elves and dragons.
By the time I was eight, I was sure I'd walked on just about every meter of deck aboard Galactica and been through at least half of all the hatches. Stories about open fields where the grass would be taller than my head, or beaches where the ground underneath you was sand that could slip around your toes and where you could look out at the water and not see the other side... even when I was thirteen and my father snuck me down onto a planet where the fleet was replenishing water and raw material supplies, it was a mostly barren rock.
Nowhere we went could even come close to their stories about the old Colonies.
If I could roll things back, but still be me and still have Hera and my friends there with me? I'd find an apartment right in the middle of Caprica City, where everything was happening, enroll in the university and figure everything out from there.
Yeah.
