Of course you're right. I'm tentative about saying anything to him, partly because I don't want to be a pest if he really wants to keep me at a distance, and mostly because I'm not really sure what kind of relationship I want to have with him. (Add that to my to-do list, to figure that out.) For right now, I guess distance is okay, although I do miss him at times.

But inaction is just so compelling and easy... (and trust me, this is the pot calling the kettle names...)

This has shades of familiarity to sorting out long term friendship with Kathryn. We were friends for ages, dated for a bit, then had to figure out something for the long term. Took a *lot* of work and pain on both sides. No guarantees you'll have a partner on the other side to that work, but here's my hope you will. You're both awesome people. And, in my particular situation, the pay off was worth it...

Well, thank you for the kind words and the vote of confidence. Maybe the time is coming in which I have to sort things out with him, and this line of thinking is just the start.

We *did* promise each other that we wanted to remain friends no matter how the dating thing ended. Might be a good idea to think about what "friends" means.
