better late than never....

This was written last week. I never had a chance to post it. so as the header says: better late than never....

For as quiet as my actual birthday was on Wed, Oct 11, I made up for it last weekend.

Friday night my “Six Degree’s” friends threw a party for me and my friend Sonya. Her bday is the 18th. We were born in prime FALL season. Neither Sonya nor I ever had a “Pool Party” for our birthdays because of this. Friday night, we dressed in our favorite summer clothes and had a Tropical Themed Birthday! Ya’ see, our hostess is from Florida. Her house never gets cooler than 90. Hence - the skimpy clothes and the theme.
We had so much fun. Cake, booze..other things…. LOL I’ve posted some pics for you all to see!

Saturday we went to a “Haunted House” in Patterson, NY. I was all excited. My friend Chick has worked this haunted house and has always raved about it. I was looking forward to checking out a new scare. So was Micky. Gang… $15 and it was barely worth $8. To call it a “Haunted House” is such a misnomer. It was more like a nice Halloween display. The props were really incredible. Well lit. Nice layout. The only “scare” was a room they had set up like a scene from “the Ring”..which I didn’t see, so it was lost on me. *shrug* It was a nice walk, though. At the top of a ski slope. A lot of the props came from Stew Leonard’s (or so I hear).

After that “frightening” experience, we went back to Chicks and hung out by the fire for a while. I love that. As much as I hate the winter, I love sitting by a fire in the fall.

Sunday, Micky and I went to CTRF. We had originally planned to go with a bunch of people, but one by one they bailed on us. And ya’ know what? We had the best time!~

On the way up to faire, we passed by the cutest little place and couldn’t resist. It’s called “Pumpkintown USA”. Here we are, two grown women, no child in tow to say “We stopped for the kid”. We had a blast! It was simple and silly and so much fun! For those of you who have children - or if you’re just a kid at heart *raising hand*, it’s definitely a nice little day trip! Beautiful scenery, leisurely drive and only $2 to go in and check it out. It’s directly on Rt 66 in East Hampton. Ya can’t miss it! If you do go…be sure to tell them the Renaissance women sent ya! LOL Yeah, we were in garb and got many strange looks. We even directed a few ‘dane to the faire!

We did eventually roll into faire. A few hours later than we had thought, but the distraction was worth it.
It was a chilly day. Micky was thrilled. She got to wear the new coat she made. We saw lots of friends. So many hugs!!! The new site is wonderful. A major improvement over the old location. The fact that we didn’t have to pack a lunch for the trip into the deep, deep woods of Woodstock was a boon on its own! The paved paths were very nice. Having a bad foot and all… I had to wear my cast and the paved paths made it much easier. The food was incredible!! Had my first Scotch Egg… yummy!!! And the RIBS!! OK, people…. I’m not a big fan of ribs in general. But these??? These were the best ribs I have ever had!! So good in fact that I got an order to take home!!! That’s what I had for lunch today. I don’t know what they do to them, but they are to die for!!! The barista who prepared the Turkish coffee definitely knew what he was doing. The rose water and cardamom put the flavors over the top!

I was very proud of myself…and Micky for that matter. We actually maintained and didn’t buy everything under the sun. And, believe it or not…Micky didn’t buy a single “sharp and pointy”!! Now THAT’s amazing!

A few days before we went to faire, I had been checking out some of the pics that people have been posting. I happened across one of the King’s Guard… a VERY handsome butchie. I was hoping that she would be at faire that day. She was… I drooled…. Then - to double my pleasure…. I saw the most attractive female jouster. Let me just say, Dame Morgan, if you EVER need a squire…. I’d be happy to polish your boots any day!! Whooottttt! (just don’t let my wife find out!)

I have been going to / working Ren faires for about 5 years now. I have never NEVER received a rose at faire. Not even the time that my wife gave someone money to make sure it happened and the person she entrusted the mission to…forgot. Yesterday made up for every rose I never received. Yesterday, at the Ct Ren Faire…. I was “Rogued”.
I was walking around, minding my own business, taking pics of everything. Suddenly I was surrounded by seven handsome men. Each one handed me a rose and said the most wonderful things to me. I felt so special…and beautiful. I haven’t felt that in a very long time. I had to try very hard not to cry. When I was in receipt of all the roses, one of the Rogues asked if I would carry forth a message. “Please tell Mysti the Rogues send their love and we miss her”. These guys are good! They actually did two rogue-ing’s at once! As soon as we left faire…and I got cell service back, I called Mysti. She was just as moved as I was. I sent her pics of the Roses and of the Rogues.

Gentlemen, on behalf of Critter and myself, thank you soooo much! You have made us both very happy!

So…as I said early in this post, for as quiet as my birthday was on Wed…. I made up for it this weekend!

Happy Birthday to me!! And Sonya… and Saiyge…and EVERYONE else!!
(May as well share the joy!)
