I think you guys all know that I love Hudson, I think the school I got him from trained him very well and selected an excellent match for me, both in terms of the skills I needed him to have and personality

Do you have any contact info for the now-ex-director? I'd talk to her about it, if you could.
Otherwise . . . it has to be hard to love, socialize, and train dogs and then let them go. Like pet fosterers, it takes a unique blend of attachment and ability to separate.
Maybe it's a career that has a built-in shelf life for many people, or maybe they do this for a few years and build up experience to move up on the career ladder elsewhere?
I do think that since you want to get another dog through them, eventually, it's worth asking.
Nope. I've never had contact info for any of the trainers that left, including Hudson's trainer (which was a shame, i really really liked her).
There is a definite possibility of there being burnout in this field. I guess I'm just surprised that someone would do this for SO long and then leave - it seems to me that typically burnout happens pretty quickly. 2 of the trainers that left - the former director and another one who left a couple years ago - were there for a long time. I think it was 15 or 16 years for the one and about 26 or 27 for the former director.
I think I may just ask the president of the school, albeit in a nice fashion of course. I don't want to make accusations, it just feels weird to me.
