Um, I think you're misunderstanding me more than a little here.
When I say fighters, I mean protesters and organizations that lobby and bring lawsuits and the like. I don't mean getting out the guns and going to town.
When I name myself as a fighter, I mean a young lawyer who fights the good fight - defending the rights of the people who will be harmed by this administration and this Congress, challenging every new discriminatory law, demanding justice.
Very much agreed -- and this is closer to an Underground Railroad, helping ppl in need or danger get to someplace safer.
Not being able to achieve escape velocity is true and terrifying -- I'm stuck in TX indefinitely bc I can't afford to move and would be giving up my best chance at secure housing for myself and Kira... but if we didn't have my mother for a landlord (which increases our housing security), I'd be doing our damndest to move right now.
I'm also willing to be a waystation, anytime that Charlie isn't here & I have that bedroom available.
Yes, the Underground Railroad is roughly the inspiration. Obviously, this is theoretically easier, as there is no necessity to hide the people we are talking about transporting. On the other hand, people today do not leave with nothing but the clothes on their backs, so the question of getting their things transported as well is a bit more difficult.
