Hiding from the Lord (religious rant warning)

Well, actually hiding from the Lord's anticipated traffic jam this weekend.

There is a huge evangelical event going on in my hometown this weekend.  Franklin Graham (son of Billy Graham) is holding a festival at the BU campus all weekend.  If you've never heard of him, don't worry ... I never did either until this festival was scheduled.  I'm ( Read more... )

Icky. Would it be feesible to leave really early and grab some breakfast close to your appointment to give you time to get through the traffic. Take a book. ;)

I once saw a signature line that read:

That is an AMAZING bit of wisdom ...

The Saturday service starts at 10, so I should be OK to get past if I leave at 11:30. And coming back at 1 may not be so bad either - hopefully they'll be out of the events center at that point. There are actually a couple different ways I can go, depending on what I see in the morning.

Oddly enough, it's quite deserted around here at the moment. The festival must have scared all the locals away from this end of town ;)

I am soooo glad I am not there, cannot stand traffic and even more cannot stand evangelism.

He's a pretty intense type of evangelist guy. Not all of them are like that, luckily. I wouldn't have minded going to hear the music - some of the groups coming in are really good. But you have to listen to the testamonials, the preaching, and fight the mega-crowds. I'll buy the CD and listen to it on my iPod. Quietly. In the backyard.
