I am sorry to hear that news. Be strong. (I know you will be.) Let him know how you feel about him, for his sake and yours, and help him to enjoy what he can.
I was strong, though it cost. I was pretty burnt out when I got back Sunday evening. Fortunately my dad went home yesterday and seems to be convalescing well. In some ways this was scarier than his stroke, and in some easier.
Thanks for the words of support. This has been quite an awakening; time to improve my diet (again) and get back on my exercise regimen!

Hey there,
Thanks for the kind words; it took me a long time to clarify this path, but it has never disappointed.
My dad could still last a long time; his CHF isn't so severe as to require a pacemaker (for example) and he went home yesterday, had a light meal, and slept soundly. But I'm much more aware of his health and my own now, and am glad to have the chance to spend time with him.
I'm sorry for the loss of your father, though glad that you did realize he was important to you, even after the fact. Some people never even get that far :) May you find the peace you need, and the path that suits you best.
