Elliot can be dreadfully bleak. He had such a deep and terrible devotion to his God; it often brought him more pain than comfort, poor man. There is in this an element of peace that, while harsh, remains appealing. A cold and somewhat distant grace, but grace nonetheless.

Elliot? I thought it was CS Lewis. Though your comment might apply to both....

A Cold and Distance Grace sounds like a great book title! Thanks for the comment. Smooch!

Ack! No, I'm talking about C.S. Lewis here. The Boo was asking me a question about Elliot as I was responding to your post, and I got my wires crossed. Everything else still applies. Still, I really should be more careful. I suppose I should do some kind of penance. *wink*

Maybe I'll use "A Cold and Distant Grace" someday and dedicate the book to you!

Lewis it is, then! You've already got so much penance and discipline banked it could take a long time to get through it all, so no worries.

I look forward to reading your writing! Any dedication (I won't hold you to it ;) would just be gilding the lily, no doubt.
