Does anyone like Overwrite?

You know , the thing in Microsoft Word where it types over letters you've already typed when you're just trying to fix or add something? The thing that says "OVR" at the bottom of the screen and turns on randomly just to fuck my shit up?

I hate Overwrite.

That would usually happen to me on my old laptop. When I'd accidentally miss the backspace key, I'd hit the insert key. That would get rid of the next character every time I hit a new keystroke.

So if you couldn't fix it, try just hitting insert. Or keys in that area

no no no no nononono

fuck overwrite. more like overWRONG. when in the world do people need this. NEVER.

maybe if you're like, "oh, instead of this five letter word, i want this other five letter word, and i dont want to take the time to delete those five letters and write five new ones, so i'll just position the cursor back to the start of the word and hit 'insert' and write the new word"

which is stupid, especially since furiously tapping the backspace key is such a gratifying process.

I'm glad we can all vent about this now.

I dunno, it's never been an issue for me, I notice when it starts overwriting and quickly hit the insert key to stop it. Problem solved.

I don't understand this, are you celebrating the OVR function?
