Summer is here

Goodness, it's been dreadfully hot, lately. Some days it's hard to convince myself not to laze about on a couch drinking iced tea. There's always so much work to do, around the house and in the garden and grounds... but... it's just so hot.

...Would anybody like to go for a swim?

*stopping by Clara's house* Tell me about it, I just had to get out of the appartment; I didn't realize all the heat in the building would rise to the top so much. How have things been?

A swim? I haven't gone swimming in... *finger to lips* ever. I don't think I even own a bathing suit.

*sighs* Quiet. It's only me and Mal in the house now, and the animals. And Mal's been away for a while, since his brother's wife is having a baby, so it's really just been me. This is the emptiest it's been in... ever. I've never been alone, really, since I moved in two years ago. *bends down to scratch Mr. Wiggles' ears as he comes by to sniff their ankles* And... how have you been? Everything... okay?

*blinks* Really? So... you don't know how to swim? ...That seems so weird to me, I forget I'm not in Aquroya, everyone knows how to swim there.

I'm sorry to hear that, but as my English teacher in high school said, "it's good to live by yourself for a while so you can find out that you are a good person and you like yourself." Of course she didn't mention that you could end up finding that you are not a good person or you don't like yourself. *flustered* And by 'you' I didn't mean 'you' I just mean 'a person.' :< But, yeah, I get lonely too.

*frowny face again* I never learned. *brightens up suddenly* I read a book that covered how to swim!

*smiles, then laughs a little* That's very wise... but I already think that mostly I'm a good person, at least I try to be, and generally I like myself. *sad smile at the "lonely" comment* ...You should come over more often. ...And I should visit you more often, I suppose. ...No problems with, um, Envy... recently?

*blinks* ...Goodness, I wonder if it's possible to learn to swim from a book? It would never occur to me to do it that way.... If you'd like, though, I could teach you to swim!
