Fic Post - Gundam 00
Title: Never Satisfied

Lyle hated being different, almost as much as he hated being the same. His entire life had revolved around people thinking he was or expecting him to be just like his brother. He hated that and tried to make everyone see him as his own person. It had been working too until he ended up in Celestial Being and was faced with his brother's ghost. He heard the whispers as he went past, the endless comparisons and the angry tones as people talked. "How dare he come in here and just take over, he's not really Lockon. He doesn't shoot as well, he doesn't fly as well, and he's certainly not as polite." "His attitude sucks, the real Lockon would have never yelled at anyone like that." "I wonder what Tieria-san was thinking when let this baffoon have the Cherudium, can't he see he's just isn't worth it?" and over and over. Lyle had heard it all, and he just wanted to turn to each of the cowards whispering behind his back and around corners and shout at them. "I'm not Neil damn it, and I don't want to be anymore than you guys want me to be, so get over it. I'll do my job in the way that I want to, not in the way that my fucking brother would, so get the fuck over it!" But he didn't, he couldn't let these narrow minded people get to him like that. He was finally different, and after fighting his whole life to prove it, now he was being tormented because of it.
Lyle sat in the small living room of one of the Earth bases, sprawled out on one of the couches with his eyes closed. The previous mission had been tough, they had all taken heavy damage, and now they were holed up here until Ian could make it down to begin repairs on their machines. The other meisters were all outside, testing some new communication device Tieria had invented. It fed on quantum brain waves and could be used to instantly communicate with anyone else wearing the device, or at least anyone who had the capability to use it, without anyone else being aware of what was going on. Or at least that was the theory, and that is what they were supposed to be testing. Lacking the quantum brain waves meant that he was needed to participate. He could faintly hear the annoyed tone Tiera had and Allelujuah's laughter, and the almost to faint to hear rumble of Setsuna's voice as they talked. Allelujuah continued to laugh, and Lyle could tell he was teasing Tieria about something and Tieria's sharp reprimand reminding him they were testing equipment and did not have the time to play around. Overall it sounded like a fairly amusing conversation, and Lyle was hit with a sudden sharp pain of loneliness. He wasn't friends per say with the others, and at that moment he was more aware of that than ever. He was alone in this room because he was different, and for the first time that he could remember, he wished he were the same.
