Writer's Block: Birthday Shout-out

Jul 31, 2009 20:36

I haven't read any of them. I haven't seen any of the movies. And I don't buy the "sitting in a cafe all day with baby at her side, writing stuff on torn up sheets of paper she rescued from rubbish bins" No cafe in the UK lets you sit with one cup of coffee ALL day.

Romantic nonsense.

AND she stole ideas from other places.

And LOTR is far better.

writer's block

I dont think she denies getting ideas from other places does she?

thats sad you feel that way, as they are a good read within themselves.

Erin is really into the whole Harry Potter thing, which is good. I must say that JK certainly encouraged people to read more books, and especially adults. I did try and read the first one, so my opinion isn't just airy fairy. And its good that she gives so much to charity Its just the whole hype that surrounds her makes me annoyed. There are many damn good authors out there who never make it - but then you can say the same about music, I suppose. Its the luck of the draw.

I know you would have good reason for saying what you do, which is why I started a convo your my first none liker of HP! that in its self interested me :o)
The first book wasnt the best, it was though the setting that was needed, I don't think people really got into her books till book two or three and then word spread like wildfire.
