Initial musings upon setting forth.....

So. The blinking cursor . Oh, my god, there's no spellcheck on this thing. I'm going to have to go back to writing with a dictionary beside me, like I did when I was an undergraduate. Or, I can just spell things the way I think they're spelled, and not worry about it. Naw. Not possible. Just one of those things I haven't had to worry about since my ( Read more... )

Those echoes do travel! There actually are circles around the fire here, and some of them include people you already know (and have probably sat around real fires with, conversing and singing). But how often do we get to those real fires together, with so much geographical distance between us? Virtual fires do have their place, though they won't replace the real ones anytime soon.

Glad you are here! Hang around long enough to see if you find some friends in the crowds of strangers here.

There is a spell checker, see that button down at the bottom. :-) Yay, you found it. ;-)

Welcome to Lj! There are lots of folks here. When I first arrived I was dismayed by the median age of Ljers but the arrival of many friends in the years since (and the ability to search with age as a limiter) have brought me many interesting journals to read. *grin* Also check out the various communities - magical, psych, regional and before long you'll have scores of friends.

it's easiest if you already know people here, because then you can read what they say and comment on it and see what other people say in comments. the 'friend of a friend' thing is a joy to us (my husband sbsisson and I) when travelling because people seem to share their nicest friends with us! and it works the same way in LJ - click on the list of friends you see in the profile for someone you already know and see what they have to say. Join in the conversations and then people will listen for when you speak (AKA put you on their friends list, though friends as a term can mean as much as heartfriend or as little as subscriber). Put some interests in your profile, then click them on the page to see who else shares them. check into the communities for people you know or people you want to know. and be welcome!
